Getting started with a NOOK

Using a NOOK to read books from your local library is easy. All you have to do is check out and download an eBook, then transfer it to your NOOK using Adobe Digital Editions (ADE).
Note: This page should help with any NOOK, such as the NOOK Color, NOOK Tablet, NOOK Simple Touch, etc.

What you need

How it works

  1. Install software
You can use your NOOK to enjoy eBooks from your library. You’ll need Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) to transfer eBooks to your device.

You will also need to authorize your computer and your eBook reader with an Adobe ID.

  2. Browse, check out, download
To get started, browse to an OverDrive-powered library website. To find your library, try using search.overdrive.com.

Next, check out and download an EPUB or PDF eBook using your Windows or Mac computer. The eBook will open with (ADE). From there, transfer the eBook to your eBook reader. It’s a simple drag and drop from your ADE library to your device bookshelf.

  3. Enjoy
Once you have transferred a library eBook, you can read it just like you would any other eBook on your NOOK.
