Why We Celebrate: Arab American Heritage Month

This month, we turn our attention to Arab American Heritage Month, examining its origin, evolution, and significance. The lecture will be presented by Lamis Diab, Cultural Excellence and Belonging Specialist at Rock Valley College. A Q&A session will follow.

About the Presenter: Lamis Diab is a lifelong resident of Rockford, Illinois and a Palestinian American professional committed to advancing equality, belonging, and cross- cultural understanding. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Rockford University and a Master of Business Administration from Aurora University. Lamis serves as the Cultural Excellence and Belonging Specialist at Rock Valley College, where she leads inclusive, equity-centered programming that fosters engagement and connection across the campus community. Her work is grounded in building meaningful community partnerships, amplifying diverse perspectives, and removing barriers to access and belonging.
